The only needed tool is a philips screwdriver, sized on the only 2 screws we need to remove.
This RAM update doesn’t void any warranty.

Put the iMac in place

Shut down the Mac and disconnect power cable.
Put the iMac face down on a clean and smooth surface.

RAM bay

Remove the two screws locking the RAM bay - highlighted in orange in the picture.

RAM lock mechanism

Two plastic levers -locking the modules- spring up.
Open completely such levers in order to free SoDimm modules.

Update RAM

Install/replace RAM modules.
Be careful with modules direction, as per the picture.

Lock RAM modules

Insert modules, and verify insertion by closing slightly the levers.

Lock RAM modules

Once the correct insertion has been verified by closing levers, push them down in order to ensure a proper lock and contact of modules.
It’s over, we can close back the Mac.
